Save Vestas blog  - Vestas are coming for their blades!   |2009-09-25 02:39:43
If you have been following the saga of the Vestas plant that's closed down, you probably know that the workers set up a picket of the factory to try to stop the company taking the remaining blades awa y.

Now we have heard that they are probably coming to get them tomorrow - Friday 4 September . The factory is in Newport. Read more about it here:

It would be great if any of you who have supported the Vestas workers could get to the factory tomorrow or keep in touch over the next few days, as they are likely to be crucial to this battle to save green jobs. Best wishes,

Vicki from t he Save Vestas blog.

Looking at www.southamptonvts.co.uk/shipping_movments.asp

Under Shipping & Movements: Arrivals. BLADERUNNER TWO - BARGE - ARRIVED SOUTHAMPTON 4/09/09 AM FROM COWES

So does that mean they have left C owes but now gone back to Southampton, The ship has now vanished off the map of ships. Strange
vickim57  - Urgent mobilisation at Vestas   |2009-10-28 04:05:44
We deterred the company from moving the blades once before, and tomorrow (Tuesday 22nd September) we think they are likely to try again to take the blades. See the Save Vestas Blog for more news.
Clarkee  - SHIPS ARE STRANGE   |2009-10-28 03:59:15
Noticed a few things a little strange,

1) The main site to check traffic in the Solent is down.

2) The second known site shows Southampton patrol heading towards the Island quite fast but shows no extra ships

HOWEVER, a worldwide site I use is called Vessel Tracker and this map seems a little more interesting, it shows a ship called mana moored at the cement mill site in west Cowes. I've been watching this for the past couple of days and a few days ago it moved  out to the solent, anchored and then came back to the cement mill.

I could be wrong and it might not have anything to do with it but this is like i noticed a similar pattern with BBC OHIO.
Minnesota Wind Energy / United   |2009-11-02 20:47:01
Vestas Blades; the most inland port in the world is located in Duluth, Minnesota (US) ~ where we have received Vestas blades for some years now.

The blades are taken off ship in Duluth and trucked all across the U.S. We haven't seen many blades being shipped for some 6 months now.

The downturn in the total economy has seriously effected not only you on on the IOW, but all of us in the wind e nergy sector. We're hoping Vestas is able to move forward on a number of large wind farms projects in the Midwest spring of 2010.

Here we're pushing for common sense energy policy and investment t hat will positively effect the green job sector and a common sense energy resource ~ the wind.

Best wishes & I welcome contacts from the IOW.

Jonathan
