Hampshire constabulary is now in a position to release the identity of a teenager who died in the Solent on Sunday May 2.
Jonathan Martin, 14 of Shadoxhurst, Ashford was one of a number of Sea Cadets aboard the training ship TS Royalist. The ship had sailed out to Stokes Bay, when at about 8.30pm, Jonathan fell from rigging into the water. He was recovered by a lifeboat and taken by helicopter to Queen Alexandra Hospital, Cosham, where he was pronounced dead.

14 year old boy falls to his death
The Department for Transport’s Marine Accident Investigation Branch and Hampshire Constabulary are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a boy in the Solent, yesterday evening (Sunday, May 2).
The 14-year-old from Kent was one of a number of Sea Cadets aboard the training ship TS Royalist.
Detective Inspector Andy Symes from Gosport CID said: “The ship had sailed out to Stokes Bay when at around 8.30pm yesterday the boy fell from rigging into the water.

The Owl and Monkey Haven, Staplers Road, Newport
The Owl and Monkey Haven has been created to provide a safe, happy environment for primates and birds of prey who find themselves without a home.
These animals and birds need care because they would not survive if released into the wild. This is for a variety of reasons such as age or injury or simply because they haven’t learnt the necessary skills to fend for themselves due to being bred in captivity. The animals and birds come to the owl and monkey haven when they have nowhere else to go.

Free Laptop & Internet
More than 270,000 free laptops with broadband will be given away to low income families under a new Government scheme.
Prime Minister Gordon Brown says he wants all families to be linked up to their children’s schools via the internet. It will enable them to access reports on their attainment, behaviour and other needs.
To make that achievable, he will pledge £300m of investment to help poorer families who might not otherwise be able to afford it. Mr Brown was addressing an international education forum in Westminster today.
