SCAM CALLS - Don't be fooled! Isle of Wight Council is warning local residents of suspicious phone calls that some households have received relating to council tax, with the caller claiming to be acting on behalf of Isle of Wight Council. Some homeowners have received phone calls stating that they are entitled to a refund on their council tax. The caller tells the homeowner that they are calling from 'The Council Tax Claims Department' and that the property they own has been placed in the incorrect council tax band.

Police Appealing To Driver Police are appealing for the driver of a flatbed lorry to come forward after a disabled woman’s car was damaged in Newport A silver Mazda MX6 was parked in a disabled bay on a road named ‘Hunnyhill’ between 1.30pm and 2.00pm on Saturday, November 21, 2009 when it’s believed another vehicle collided with the parked Mazda, which has extensive damage to its passenger side.

Newport Police Hunting 2 Cyclists Police are appealing for information about two cyclists accused of being involved in an assault in Newport. A man and his wife were travelling with their grandchild in a Volkswagen Touran people carrier waiting to pull out into Forest Road. It’s alleged there was a dispute between the 58-year-old man driving the people carrier and two cyclists who were riding past at the time.

Cultivating Cannabis At Early Stage Two men were charged on Tuesday, November 17, 2009 with cultivating cannabis on the Isle of Wight. Sonny AITKEN, aged 25, of Castle Street, East Cowes, Isle of Wight, and Sean David William EDGERTON, aged 25, also of Castle Street, East Cowes, Isle of Wight, were bailed to appear before the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court on Tuesday, November 24, 2009.

Looking East Along Avenue RdPolice are trying to trace a possible witness to an alleged assault in Freshwater. It’s reported a 41-year-old man received injuries to his face when he was assaulted by another man in Avenue Road outside the shop ‘Wight Outdoors’ at approximately 6.45pm on Tuesday, November 10, 2009.
